The aim of this project is to produce a Cyberpunk themed Mall map for Unreal Tournament, usable in both Deathmatch and Capture the Flag game modes.
The main aims of the map are to create a balanced gameplay experience and bring back the Cyberpunk theme to Unreal Tournament.
The 'Story' of the map is that it is a recently closed Mall set in the 2291 era of Unreal Tournament.
The players could be fighting over the spoils of abandoned store stock, or trying to acquire the place as a base of operations for their gang (the opposing team being the rivals).
This level is being developed for the Unreal Tournament game on Unreal Engine 4.
No additional functionality will be required from the game or engine, as the premise of the map is to be playable as standard in Deathmatch or Capture the Flag with no additions.
For the visual aspects of the game, the main influences will be the Cyberpunk aesthetic.
Graphical assets will include:
Physical map design, blockouts, balance iteration.
neon tubing (emissive textures), for the store signage as well as ambient lighting.
Background objects, such as sky box, sky scrapers, flying cars overhead?
Giant map props, such as the actual gantries and ramps, base walls, pillars, shop frontages, etc
Large map props, such as information boards, advertisement boards, payment points, etc.
Medium map props such as bins, store stock, Plant pots
Small map props, such as store stock, rubbish, debris, etc.
I don't expect there to be much programming when developing the level outside of the basic Blueprint Actor interactions.
I will return to this if more than this is required.
I don't expect there to be much extra requirement for custom sounds as Unreal Tournament comes with a full sound effects suite built in.
For future development, it might be nice to have a custom musical piece specifically made for the map.
Marketing will at first be a simple affair of gaining feedback from the community via the forums and other mediums.
