Story

This is a story of a group of aliens that were lost in the cosmos. After awhile, they found the planet Earth. Searching for a suitable area for days, they finally decided on a field with grass that were several football fields in length and width. Unknowingly there was a village a couple of miles from them to the south. The arrival of the aliens was seen as a gift from the gods. The alien arrival put a halt to the Forces of Darkness raiding the town week after week. The villagers informed the aliens of this and many other things about that section of the world. The aliens then went to scout out the neighbor to the north. The aliens soon discovered that the Forces of Darkness were building up their armies to invaded the new Alien Castle and the village to the south. The Aliens now have to prepare for war and save themselves and the villagers.

Style & Structure

The game is 2D with a Tower Defense style game. The time period and place is Medieval Europe. The game only has one goal: push and hold back the enemy. The game is side scrolling and linear.

Main Scenario

The player will start on the right side of the screen, in a spaceship right above the castle. The game is 3 sections long. Each section to be able to fill a monitor with a resolution 1920x1080 and is 27". The leftmost and rightmost sections have the opposing castles. The middle section will just be the terrain. The player will traverse ultimately to the left leading an army of alien zombies to the enemy castle. There the player will keep the enemy castle from producing zombies for an extended period of time. Once that goal has been met. The game is over.

Spaceship

The main character which the player controls. It is equipped with a laser gun and teleport beam.

Laser gun initially has an ATK level of 0.25.

The beam takes 5 seconds to charge and initially can be beam up 1 zombie a second.

The spaceship cannot shoot the laser and beam up zombies at the same time.

Gray Alien Zombie

Created after beamed up to spaceship for 5 seconds or less.

2 HP and 1 ATK.

Yellow Alien Zombie

Created after beamed up to spaceship for 6 to 10 seconds.

2 HP and 2 ATK.

Red Alien Zombie

Created after beamed up to spaceship for 11 to 20 seconds.

3 HP and 2 ATK.

Brown Alien Zombie

Created after beamed up to spaceship for 21 to 30 seconds.

3 HP and 3 ATK.

Black Alien Zombie

Created after beamed up to spaceship for 31 to 40 seconds.

4 HP and 4 ATK.

Gray Alien Catapult

After 1 black alien zombie has been created, the Alien Castle can created this catapult.

5 HP and 5 ATK.

Yellow Alien Catapult

After 1 black alien zombie has been created, the Alien Castle can created this catapult.

6 HP and 5 ATK.


Red Alien Catapult

After 1 black alien zombie has been created, the Alien Castle can created this catapult.

7 HP and 5 ATK.


Brown Alien Catapult

After 1 black alien zombie has been created, the Alien Castle can created this catapult.

8 HP and 6 ATK.


Black Alien Catapult

After 1 black alien zombie has been created, the Alien Castle can created this catapult.

10 HP and 6 ATK.


Vehicles & Buildings

The game will have two buildings: Enemy Castle and Alien Castle. Defeat of one of these castles will end the game..

Enemy Castle

The Enemy Castle has a gate.

The gate has 20 HP. Once the gate is destroyed, the spaceship will be able to beam zombies out of the Enemy Castle.

Castle produces zombies in (zombie's ATK + 1) seconds.

After 20 gray zombies are made (ie. released onto field), then a yellow zombie can be made.

After 10 yellow zombies are made, then a red zombie can be made.

After 10 red zombies are made, then a brown zombie can be made.

After 15 brown zombies are made, then black zombie can be made.

After 1 black zombie is made, then any gray, yellow, red, brown, or black catapult can be made.

After 1 black zombie is made, zombies and catapults are made at random.

Catapults are made in (catapult's ATK + (10 - number of black zombies on the field)) seconds.

Alien Castle

The Alien Castle has a gate.

The gate has 20 HP. Once the gate is destroyed, the enemy zombies will be able to attack the Alien Castle.

Castle produces alien zombies in (zombie's ATK + 5) seconds.

After 20 gray alien zombies are made (ie. released onto field by spaceship or castle), then a yellow alien zombie can be made.

After 10 yellow alien zombies are made, then a red alien zombie can be made.

After 10 red alien zombies are made, then a brown alien zombie can be made.

After 15 brown alien zombies are made, then black alien zombie can be made.

After 1 black alien zombie is made, then any gray, yellow, red, brown, or black alien catapult can be made.

After 1 black alien zombie is made, alien zombies and alien catapults are made at random.

Catapults are made in (catapult's ATK + (10 - number of black alien zombies on the field)) seconds.


Weapons, Upgrades & Powerups

There beam power ups and weapon power ups. They will be automatically given to the spaceship when the Alien Castle produces them.

Beam Power Up +2

Allows the spaceship to beam up 2 enemy zombies at a time.

Beam Power Up +3

Allows spaceship to beam up 3 enemy zombies at a time.

Laser Power Up 0.5

Increases ATK from 0.25 to 0.50 ATK.

Laser Power Up 0.75

Increase laser's ATK from 0.50 to 0.75.

Laser Power Up 1.0

Increases laser's ATK from 0.75 to 1.0.

Laser Power Up Homing

Switches out laser beam to homing beam. Each beam homes in on one enemy zombie. Selection is by the closest enemy zombie that is not already targeted.

Laser Power Up Spread

Switches laser beam to 5 laser beams shot out in an arc.

Missile

Missiles are created when an enemy zombie has been beamed up and has stayed on the Spaceship for longer than 40 seconds. It has 15 ATK.

Mechanics

INPUT

The game will be controlled by mouse and keyboard.

The mouse will control the Spaceship. The Spaceship will follow the mouse movements. Left-click to shoot. Right-click to cycle through weapons.

Keys: Q, W, E, R, T, and Y will be to select which zombies or missile is beamed down or launched, respectively.

Keys 1 - 9 will beam down the type of zombie selected by the number chosen. Ex: Keys W, then 3, will beam down 3 yellow zombies. When the Y key is pressed, the left mouse click will launch 1 missile per click every 2 seconds.

The Space Bar will activate the teleport beam. Another press of the Space Bar will deactivate it, even when charging.


HUD

There will be a row of colored squares on each side of the screen. Each color will represent the type of zombie and catapult. In each square, the number of the type on the field will be displayed. Also, the Alien Castle HP will show on the right side under the row of colored squares.


Spaceship

The teleport beam takes 5 seconds to charge. While charging, the spaceship will be surrounded with a blue glow as an indicator.

The teleport beams up 1 enemy zombie per second. With +2 and +3 power ups, it can beam up 2 enemy zombies per second and 3 enemy zombies per second, respectively.

Once an enemy zombie has beamed up, it is timed individually. The longer an enemy zombie is on the Spaceship the stronger it becomes as an Alien Zombie.

The levels and beam lengths are:

  • 0 - 5 seconds produces a gray zombie
  • 6 - 10 seconds produces a yellow zombie
  • 11 - 20 seconds produces a red zombie
  • 21 - 30 seconds produces a brown zombie
  • 31 - 40 seconds produces a black zombie
  • 41 and over seconds produces a missile

The teleport beam can beam down up to 9 zombies of any type per second.

The laser beam can shoot up to 10 shots per second.

The homing beam can shoot up to 10 shots per second.

The spread beam can shoot up to 10 shots per second.

While the teleport beam is on, the spaceship cannot shoot any weapon.

The spaceship can shoot while the beam is charging.


Alien Castle

Zombie and Catapult creation is determined by 2 dice.

3 sided die:

  • 1, 1, 2. Where 1 = zombie and 2 = catapult.
  • Roll will be a random selection among the 3 values. Whichever value is selected determines whether zombie and catapult.

35 sided die:

  • 10 "1", 8 "2", 7 "3", 6 "4", 4 "5". Where 1 = gray, 2 = yellow, 3 = red, 4 = brown, 5 = black. Whichever value is selected determines type of zombie or catapult.

Zombie and Catapult creation is also governed by the following rules:

  1. Black Zombie can only be created after 15 brown zombies have been created.
  2. Brown Zombie can only be created after 10 red zombies have been created.
  3. Red Zombie can only be crated after 10 yellow zombies have been created.
  4. Yellow Zombie can only be crafted after 20 gray zombies have been created.
  5. Gray Zombie are created initially and any time after.

After black zombie is created, all and any zombies or catapults can be created at random.

Once dice are rolled and type of enemy determined, it will go into a queue and a countdown will start to create it on the field.

The countdown is determined by the formulas, for zombie: (ATK + 5) seconds, for catapult: (ATK + (10 - [number of black zombies on the field]).

After the Alien Castle creates a zombie, the player can choose to release it onto the field or keep it in the castle.

The enemy zombies can't attack the Alien Castle until the gate is destroyed.

The spaceship can beam out enemy zombies from the Alien Castle.

The spaceship can beam in alien zombies into the Alien Castle.

Alien Zombies in the Alien Castle randomly target any enemy zombie.

After the alien zombies in the Alien Castle have attacked, the enemy zombies will randomly target any alien zombie.

The enemy zombies in the Alien Castle can also target the Alien Castle as well as the Alien Zombies.

Each group attacks once per second.

If the Castle reaches 0 HP, then the Aliens lose and the game is over.

The gate can be repaired as long as the enemy zombies have not attacked the Alien Castle for a consecutive 60 seconds.

When there are no Enemy Zombies in the Alien Castle and only Alien Zombies, the Alien Castle will have 3 states in the following order:

  1. Fight Enemy Zombies in the Alien Castle
  2. If there are no Enemy Zombies in the Alien Castle, repair the Alien Castle. Repairs also occur per second. The amount of HP given toward the repair per second is equal to the ATK points of all Alien Zombies in the Alien Castle.
  3. When there are no Enemy Zombies in the Alien Castle and the Alien Castle HP == 500, then create Power Ups

Power Ups are created when the ATK points of all Alien Zombies equal one of the values below. Once a power up has been created, the Alien Zombies equalling that value will be removed from the Alien Castle.

  • 50 ATK = 0.50 Laser Power Up
  • 75 ATK = 0.75 Laser Power Up
  • 100 ATK = 1.00 Laser Power Up
  • 150 ATK = +2 Beam Power Up
  • 200 ATK = +3 Beam Power Up
  • 400 ATK = Homing Laser Power Up
  • 500 ATK = Spread Laser Power Up

Power Ups are automatically given to the Spaceship. Laser Beam, Homing Laser, and Spread Laser are selectable.


Enemy Castle

Zombie and Catapult creation is determined by 2 dice.

Zombie and Catapult creation is also governed by the following rules:

  1. Black Zombie can only be created after 15 brown zombies have been created.
  2. Brown Zombie can only be created after 10 red zombies have been created.
  3. Red Zombie can only be crated after 10 yellow zombies have been created.
  4. Yellow Zombie can only be crafted after 20 gray zombies have been created.
  5. Gray Zombie are created initially and any time after.

After black zombie is created, all and any zombies or catapults can be created at random.

Once the gate is destroyed the Enemy Castle must maintain over 10 enemy zombies on the field for over a minute. If it cannot, then the enemy loses and game is over.

The gate can be repaired as long as the spaceship has not beam any enemy zombies out of the Enemy Castle for a consecutive 60 seconds.


Zombies

Zombies make 1 attack per second to the closest enemy. The health and amount of damage each zombie can make are as follows:


Catapults

Catapults make 1 attack every 2 seconds to any enemy. They move or shoot. But can't do both at the same time. The health and amount of damage each catapult can make are as follows:


ATK and HP

Each Castle, zombie, and catapult has an ATK and HP. The value of ATK determines the amount of HP depleted by an opposing NPC. HP - ATK = remaining HP. Where HP is of the attackee and ATK is from the attacker.
