Game Introduction

The name of the game I will be making for the project is called "Ultimate Dodgeball Deluxe".

It is a first-person shooter taking place in a 3v3 dodgeball game with some RPG-like customization options.

Story

This game will lack a major plot or any storyline because there is no need to (for the time being).

The progression of the game is based on a tournament system where the player team has to win 4 games/levels to win. The difficulty of the enemy AI will increase as you progress further.


How to Play

The rules are:

Hit the enemy and drop their HP by throwing the balls. Dodge the shots by moving around and jumping.

Each team have three members. Getting hit by a ball will reduce your HP, not take you out of the game like actual dodgeball. When a team member's HP drops to 0, they're out for the rest of the game. To win a game, your team must get the entire enemy team out of the match.

Each match will last 3 and a half minutes and the game will take place in an arena comprised of two platforms with a wide ditch in the middle (there will be varied terrains).

The ditch in the middle is too wide for anyone to jump across and if you fall into it, you'll respawn in your team's spawn point.


Technical

The game will be entirely made in the Unity Engine. The game will only be playable on PC/Mac when it eventually comes out.

User Interface (controls)

The controls will be using the standard PC game controls:

WASD for movement. Space for jump and the momentum can be controlled somewhat using the WASD in the air.

Left-mouse button to shoot launch ball. Right-mouse button to zoom.

Artwork (design)

I will design the characters using Krita, an art app and then use a 3D model designer to create the characters in Unity.

Heads Up Display (HUD)

The UI I planned to use can be shown in this image below.

This UI is subject to change in the future further down in development.


Characters

The characters you can pick are all varied in terms of physique and stat.

Depending on the stat, you character may be weaker and stronger in certain fields.

eg. You can run fast but your throws are weak. You are slow but you hit hard and have a lot of health.

Attack - the Damage you can do with your charged shot.

Defence - technically your HP value. Each star is 3 HP.  4 HP is the lowest value.

Speed - the Movement Speed of the character.

Level Design

The will be 5 levels in total:

1. A plain white tutorial map where players can get accustomed to the controls.

2. A beginner level map for the first match of the game.

3. A level with more areas to use as vantage points such as ramps and fences.

4. A harder level with more vertical designs to act as high grounds as well as floating platforms.

5. The boss level where the map has now combined all the elements from the previous levels: covers, vantage points, high grounds, etc.
